Brazilian winger Antony has expressed his desire to remain at Real Betis beyond his current loan spell from Manchester United, according to club CEO Ramon Alarcón. The 25-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable turnaround in Spain, finding form and confidence after a difficult period at Old Trafford.
Since joining Betis in January, Antony has registered three goals and two assists in seven appearances across all competitions. His performances have helped the club push for European qualification, and he played a key role in their recent victory over Real Madrid. Speaking to Canal Sur, Alarcón revealed Antony’s enthusiasm for staying in Seville.
“The other day, Antony told me that he wants to stay another year,” Alarcón said. “The player is very comfortable here and was surprised by the facilities we provided to help him settle.”
Antony’s struggles at Manchester United are well documented. After signing from Ajax for £82 million in 2022, he managed just 12 goals and five assists in 96 appearances. His lack of impact led to United sending him on loan, and new manager Ruben Amorim reportedly remains unconvinced about his role in the squad next season.
With Antony flourishing under Manuel Pellegrini at Betis, a loan extension could benefit all parties. While United may prefer to sell him outright, Betis might explore another temporary deal to keep their in-form winger. Talks between the two clubs are expected in the summer transfer window.
For now, Antony remains focused on finishing the season strongly with Betis. If his form continues, it may strengthen his case for a permanent move, allowing him to continue his resurgence in La Liga.
