Ismaila Sarr Strikes Late as Crystal Palace Edge Past Ipswich

Ismaila Sarr's late goal secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory for Crystal Palace over Ipswich Town at Selhurst Park, extending the Eagles’ impressive run of form while deepening Ipswich’s relegation troubles.

Palace, now with nine wins in their last 11 games, dominated possession but struggled to break down a disciplined Ipswich defense. Eddie Nketiah squandered an early opportunity, firing straight at Alex Palmer, while Eberechi Eze saw his deflected cross hit the post. Ipswich, despite being under pressure, posed a threat on the counter, with Jaden Philogene and Julio Enciso both forcing saves from Dean Henderson.

As the game edged towards a frustrating stalemate, Sarr delivered the decisive moment in the 82nd minute. Racing into the box, he delicately chipped Palmer to give Palace a deserved lead. The winger had earlier made a vital defensive contribution, clearing a goal-bound effort from Philogene.

The victory lifts Oliver Glasner’s side to 11th in the Premier League, continuing their impressive start to 2025, with only Liverpool picking up more points since the turn of the year. Meanwhile, Ipswich remain in 18th, five points from safety, having now failed to win any of their first nine league matches of the year.

For Palace, this result underscores their growing confidence under Glasner, while Ipswich face an uphill battle to avoid relegation.
